Why is Mopane worms on a site called Food Horrors? Because its ingredients, aroma or texture can surprise people who did not grow up with it. That does not make the dish inferior: this project treats unusual food as culture first, spectacle second.

How to prepare it

  1. Rehydrate or rinse according to package directions.
  2. Boil first if required by the producer.
  3. Sauté with onion, garlic and tomato.
  4. Cook through and serve hot.
Safety note: Buy only correctly identified insects marketed for human consumption.
